Writing

What Comes After is a collection of short stories and a novella that offer a lighthearted exploration of what happens after we die. Blending the quirky charm of Beetlejuice with the cosmic wit of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, these tales follow characters as they journey through space, time, and beyond. Along the way, they grapple with themes of loss, love, and coming to terms with the choices that shaped their lives. Below are short blurbs about a few of the stories in this series.

The Observer

Malcolm Johnson is a classic workaholic, so consumed by his climb up the corporate ladder that he’s neglected his family and friends. When an untimely death sends him to the Realm, he meets Big Al, an enigmatic entity who offers him a choice: be reborn as anything he desires in the universe or return to Earth as an Observer. Opting to return, Malcolm must confront the harsh truth about his unfulfilled life and find a way to navigate his new reality, redefining what it means to truly move forward.

The Detective

Kate has served as a detective for the Realm since her death nearly thirty years ago. When her boss, Big Al, assigns her a critical mission, she must locate Sam, her husband who is newly deceased. He has learned how to leap into his past lives. As Sam’s actions threaten to unravel the fabric of existence, Kate must track him down and bring him back to the Realm—before work as a detective is erased.

The Protector

Frank Vincent has spent every one of his past lives as a killer. After carrying out one final hit for the Mob before his planned retirement, everything goes sideways, and he finds himself in the Realm, face-to-face with Big Al. Offered one last chance to redeem himself or face permanent removal from existence, Frank teams up with Madison, a young woman seeking answers about her boyfriend’s mysterious death. Together, they unravel the truth while staying one step ahead of Frank’s vengeful Mob boss, determined to settle unfinished business.
